Welcome to The Shipwright's Arms Website

We are pleased to say that we are opening the garden on Monday 12th April, (but will close on subsequent Mondays).

It ain’t over yet folks and we believe it’s best to be cautious at first to judge demand and ‘test the system,’ so as not to jeopardise the opening of the inside of the pub on the 17th May. To ensure that we keep everyone safe, we will be operating reduced hours.

We are proud to be first and foremost a traditional pub serving real ales straight from the cask, with 'pub grub' style food served at lunchtimes only for the moment in disposable containers.  At the end of the first week we look again at this and review as necessary.

Strict rules imposed by the Government will apply, so you will need to check in on arrival using the NHS Covid App or by leaving your name and contact number for each member of your party. Please wear a mask when arriving and when leaving your table and observe the rules re social distancing and group size. Hand sanitizer is available at strategic locations.

To be fair to everyone, we will only accept groups of up to 6 people.

  We are not taking bookings.

Our opening times for the first week are as follows, based on the weather forecast, staffing and the need to feel our way forward.

Monday 12th to Saturday 17th
12noon - 8pm (last orders)
Food service 12-3

Sunday 18th
12noon - 6pm (last orders)
Food Service 12-3

Finally a massive thank you to all who have supported us in so many ways through the past year, without you we would not be here! We hope that you understand the need for caution. We want to keep you and us safe and ensure that we stay within regulations as we move towards the new ‘normal’.

Like a lot of small pubs, the lockdown has hit us very hard and being very remote and 'off the beaten track' we are struggling to survive on deliveries.

A number of people have suggested we open a 'gofundme' page as they would like to help preserve this unique pub, so that is what we have done. Link is below. Any help would be much appreciated. Our thanks to those who have already donated, it has has a great deal to keep this iconic pub going ready for re-opening. Stay safe everyone.

Swale CAMRA Pub of the Year Highly Commended 2019

Just an old fashioned pub, serving real ales straight from the cask, with home cooked food available at lunchtimes and Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings during the summer.

No background music, no gaming machines, so just the place for a quiet pint in the unique interior of the pub, or in our wild life friendly creek side garden with views over the marsh - and perhaps a conversation with friends.

We do not not have WiFi - we have conversation!

Our aim is to provide a sanctuary from the hurly burly of everyday life, a place to unwind, relax and reflect.

CHANGES TO THE ENTRANCE TO HAM ROAD

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ENTRANCE TO HAM ROAD HAS CHANGED DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW HOUSING ESTATE. THE NEW HAM ROAD ENTRANCE IS SLIGHTLY FURTHER ALONG THE OARE ROAD.
