The Shipwright's Arms
GARDEN SERVICE - From 4th July
If you feel unwell or have symptoms of the Covid virus, please do not come to the pub.
The following measures are all in place in accordance with COVID guidance and risk assessment procedures, to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible. Since in the short term it will not be viable for us to open the pub internally, we are planning to operate a sort of ‘takeaway with garden seats.’ Service will be from the back garden bar window when dry, or from the table outside the front door when wet. We will obviously open the inside of the pub as soon as it is practical and possible to do so.
Due to the need for regular cleaning and a reduction of staffing levels, our hours of opening will be reduced from before lockdown and obviously affected by the weather.
Observe safe distancing at all times, especially when ordering
“Indoor gatherings should only be occurring in groups of up to 2 households (including support bubbles) while outdoor gatherings should only be occurring in groups of up to 2 households (or support bubbles), or a group of at most 6 people from any number of households.”
Please do not return glasses to the bar, we will collect them when you leave, if you use a disposable glass please put it in one of the bins provided, (or if you prefer you can bring your own glass). We will not be serving hot drinks
Children must be seated with their family groups and not allowed to run around
Please keep all dogs on a lead
Hand sanitiser will be available at various locations
Car parking - is restricted to customers of the pub and boatyard only and space is limited. Please cycle or walk if you can.
Toilets - are unisex and will operate on a ‘One in - one out’ basis .
Please wash your hands and use the sanitising wipes/spray provided on handles/taps when you leave the toilet. We will also clean and disinfect the toilets frequently and deep clean between periods of opening.
This is new to everyone, so please bear with us while we find our way forward and try things out to see what works best for us and you.
Garden Service - Food
To ensure the safety of both staff and customers, we will be taking the following precautions for food service in the garden to minimise the risk of cross contamination for everyone.
Menu’s will be single use, with a ‘specials’ board on display. Please order and pay for your food at the bar window and it will be brought to you. Bar tabs will not be available at the moment,
All food will be served in disposable/takeaway containers, which we would ask you to dispose of in the bins provided if you eat in the garden . We will also be using disposable cutlery and condiments will be in sachets. (Or bring your own cutlery).
Tables will be widely spaced and must not be moved as this would affect the social distancing rules.
Until further notice we will be operating on a limited ‘pub snack’ style menu.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation while we adjust to this new way of working.
Thanks to all who have been so supportive of us during the closure. Some customers have started 'Go Fund Me' pages to help us survive the current problems with the Corona virus lockdown, one in US Dollars and one in Pounds Sterling. Stay safe everyone and we will hopefully see you 'on the other side'. The links are below if you want to help save this unique and historic pub.
Swale CAMRA Pub of the Year Highly Commended 2019
Just an old fashioned pub, serving real ales straight from the cask, with home cooked food available at lunchtimes and Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings during the summer.
No background music, no gaming machines, so just the place for a quiet pint in the unique interior of the pub, or in our wild life friendly creek side garden with views over the marsh - and perhaps a conversation with friends.
We do not not have WiFi - we have conversation!
In the winter why not enjoy a mulled wine or cider in front of one of our log fires in a comfy armchair.
Our aim is to provide a sanctuary from the hurly burly of everyday life, a place to unwind, relax and reflect.
